Mike Aitken Fund

Mike Aitken is a BMX rider from Salt Lake City, Utah. He's got a wife and son and he's highly regarded by the BMX community as a great rider and person.

On Sunday, Oct 4th he sustained a severe head injury while riding his bike. He received breaks/fractures in his orbital bone, cheek, both sides of his jaw, as well as throughout his sinus cavities. Since the accident he has been unconscious.

Like many professional riders, Mike's BMX career makes health insurance companies consider him too high of a risk, and he is deemed "Uninsurable". Despite multiple attempts to obtain health insurance he is currently uninsured.

Because of this, he and his family are appreciative of any donation that can be offered.

MFA

I'm thinking about going for a graphic design MFA. Any advice/recommendations?

Has anyone made it through with a family? How?

Is there a portfolio site out there that you wish was yours, either for the work on the site or for the site itself?

Anyone else care?

I've been wasting away my weekend watching it. Some pretty good stuff going on.

Good Bookmark Manager?

I'm tired of my bookmarks being scattered between three computers.

Can anyone recommend a bookmark manager that they really like (either web or browser based)?

Record Album Artwork Template

Does anyone have (or know where I can get) a design template for a record? I know that's a tall order, but I thought I'd ask.

Browser Text Pixelation

Do none of the PC browsers anti-alias text? I've been working on a site and the text that the client is seeing in Firefox is pixelated to the point of being nearly illegible.

You can see the comparison here:

Mac Firefox -

Is there a fix for this or is it just a fact I have to deal with?

What's your screen resolution?

I'm making some desktop wallpapers and I was wondering what's the popular resolution with all the kids nowadays.

Swiss Graphic Design

I'm looking for good examples of websites designed in the Swiss style. For the life of me I can't think of any specific URLs. The more Muller-Brockmann-esque, the better.

Thanks.

Beautiful work.

Anyone know where I can find any more info on this guy? All I can seem to find online are places to sell me his prints.

Ever get offended...

that no one has tried to steal your work? I mean, yeah, it would suck to have someone showing your work as theirs, but in a way it's the ultimate compliment.

Just thinking outloud.

MAC Games

I'm looking for recommendations for a new game for me and my friends to get addicted to. We've been on Ghost Recon, Call of Duty and WarCraft III for a while but we want to all start a new game at once, so we can learn it together.

I'm leaning towards a strategy game but a FPS is okay too.

Thanks.

BMX/Art Magazine

f15teen BMX/Art Magazine.

http://www.f15teen.com

We are looking for contributors who are riders or who have done work that relates to BMX. I know there are a few riders on here that might have something to contribute.

However, you don't really have to be into BMX to appreciate the magazine, it's more visually related than BMX related.

CoWorker Died

Kari Mason was coworker of mine. She died yesterday after fighting breast Cancer for a number of years. She was an incredibly optimistic person, an example to everyone that met her.

It's just brought me to the realization that I need to make the most of my life, because it does end, and it's not going to be on my time-table.
