While I'm actually okay if an artist appropriates images and uses their original meaning or form in a new light to convey a message, a lot of these examples show straight copies.

I'm not fully convinced by the article but its an interesting discussion.

Just starting out with dj'ing and have been scouring Youtube for videos to see what I really gravitate towards.

I thought this was pretty slick because even though it has a lot of technical things going on, I love the fact it still retains a basic composition and is fairly listen-able to someone who doesn't even know a thing about dj'ing.

Hell, look at his routines from DMC and you'll see a huge difference. Anyone got any videos of dj's they like?

Myspace Profile Design Aug 25, 08, 12:12 p.m.

Last time I made a Myspace page and designed it, I wanted to shoot myself. I got tasked to design a new one but was wondering if things have changed at all or is it still hard as hell to customize things?

Also, does anyone have any good tutorials? Searching google is a pain because of all the link farm entries.

Opening an Online Bookstore Jan 22, 08, 6:40 a.m.

I'm opening an online design bookstore with a friend partly because we love books and partly to fund our book addictions.

Does anyone know the answer to these questions:

1) Do any major publishers actually drop ship books for you? I'm assuming no but I guess its good to know for sure.

2) What book publishers do you guys consistently find to produce consistent content?

3) Do any of you read pdf books? It kind of defeats the point in my mind but they have their benefits.

4) The obligatory, what's your top 5 favorite design books?

Our goal is to hopefully get to a point where it pays for one or two books a month. Not a lofty goal by any means, but a goal nonetheless.

Anyone ever work with head hunters? I've never used one myself but have a couple friends in NY that do religiously.

I'm thinking about opening up a head hunting service in my own town (Jacksonville, FL) and wanted to know if anyone has any good or bad experiences with head hunters.

Also, any suggestions and thoughts for improvement. As a designer I have my own ideas on how to run things, but I'd love to get more feedback.

Basics Fundamentals of Interior Design Dec 12, 07, 4:55 a.m.

Anyone have any good resources on fundamentals of interior design? I just recently closed on a new place and have always wanted to deck out a place of my own. But I want to do it right.

I realize most design principles translate over but I'd love to read up to get a firm grasp of lighting, using space and other key fundamentals.

I could stare at Dwell all day long but I feel like I need to actually learn a little bit more before I go nuts and buy stuff.

Okay, yea i know there are a ton of clothing companies out but I really think I can bring something new into the mix.

My question is, producing your initial stock is a huge endeavor financially and was wondering if they companies still around like merchline where they produce the shirts for you and ship it but charge 13 bucks a shirt.

I know its less profit, but at this point, we'd like to cut down initial costs in favor of slow growth and less profit. I'm looking to use american apparel stuff and do some custom embroiderary and stitching.

any help?
