First time MAC user Oct 17, 08, 8 p.m.

I got my MacBook Pro 15 inch today.
I've been a Windows user forever.

I have to say the amount of thought and detail put into this machine is incredible. I can say the same for OSX. I can't believe I used Windows for so long.

Anyone on the fence about whether or not to switch to Mac, I highly suggest it.

PC to MAC convert Jul 29, 08, 12:47 p.m.

Hey,
I'm seriously considering buying a Macbook Pro soon.

I've been on PC my whole life/career but I think it's time I give in and treat myself to a better look/running computer.

I have a few questions.

What are the best looking/usable apps out there for mac? I love the UI and the feel of the OS, it's probably my biggest reason for converting.

Will I have to re-buy all of my software? Any way you know of to transfer licenses for Adobe(expensive) programs? If not this could be an issue as it will raise the cost of converting by more than a thousand dollars. (ouch)

Why should I buy a 15in over a 17in? And not because of cost. Is 2 inches really that much more of a pain in the ass?

Should I wait? There are a lot of posts in tech blogs with rumors of a new macbook coming out. With an aluminum case, glass touchpad, etc. What do you think about this?

I wrote a little deal with jQuery to clear specified form fields of their initial values upon focus.

It works if I have the code in the head of my document but it doesn't work if i put it in an external file. I'd really like to put it in an external as I'm building a master form handling js file.

What am I doing wrong here?

I'm using wordpress as a CMS on a site I'm building.

The site is installed to the root directory and the client insists that it stay there.

The client also insists that there be a 'landing' or 'splash' page.

From what I've seen (googled, asked programmers) it's pretty impossible to have a real splash page on a wordpress site.

I wanted to try asking here and a few more places before I gave up.

What the end result needs to be is when a user comes to that url (no internal pages), for the first 3 times, it shows the splash page. The splash page rests for 5 seconds and then forwards on to the home page of the blog. Now if anyone clicks a link within the site to go 'home' it can't show the splash page. You know, basic splash page functionality.

There may be a way to do this with .htaccess or modifying the inner workings of php.

Anyone have anything?
