building a mobile version of a site Jan 21, 10, 4:17 a.m.
calling all mobile web gurus.
what exactly is involved in building a mobile version of a website?
Is it a complete rebuild of a site to suit, or are there more straightforward/simpler ways of doing it?
i've done some googling but havnt found any really solid info as to how to go about building a mobile version of a site, so any links would be muchly appreciated!
Website calendar Jan 6, 10, 8:20 a.m.
Has anybody integrated calendars into sites before? I have found some basic php ones which seem ok, but are there any that you've used before, that you've found to work well?

justified type + tracking rivers Jan 4, 10, 2:42 a.m.
When working with large columns of justified type with horrible line breaks — how much do you generally adjust your tracking to avoid rivers?
I mean, is there a max or a minimum you track words by (without it beginning to look really poor). I know it really depends on the typeface used, width of the column and leading, but just wondering what everyone thinks is the best approach to deal with rivers in type?
where the wild things are Dec 14, 09, 2:29 a.m.
Saw it at the weekend. Heard some great reviews and was really looking forward to it. Thought it was really good, but not mindblowing. I can't remember the last time i saw a film that really blew me away (no reference to fapping....).
Foil stamping tips Dec 8, 09, 8:24 a.m.
I havn't dealt with it before, but just wondering does an uncoated stock take stamping better than a coated stock? And are there any limitations regarding to size of pieces being stamped?
Anybody with any knowledge on this, anything I should I be aware of when doing a printrun with a foil stamp?

Feathered cutout psd Nov 17, 09, 3:08 a.m.
Has anyone had any experience with doing feathered cutouts in photoshop?
Client wants a 'feathered' effect instead of a sharp cutout. Is this possible? The only way i can think of doing it is by not using a typical clipping path and by feathering a selection - and bringing it to a new blank layer.
But when I try this it seems to slightly affect the colour of objects behind it when placed in indesign.
Anyone got any knowledge on this?

pie chartyness Sep 3, 09, 4:16 a.m.
anyone got an accurate way to create exact pie charts within illustrator ? or if its not doable within illustrator then how would you go about it.
I have to create quite a few of them, so doing them manually would be a pain in the ass!
spry tab url link Sep 2, 09, 8:20 a.m.
hey guys
Im having a little issue with linking from a page to another page with spry tabbed panels.
Using this tutorial http://foundationphp.com/tutoria…
and SpryURLUtils javascript I've got the linking to a number of tabs in another page working perfectly. But I don't want the browser to scroll down to the tab on each occasion.
Do you know is there any was of disabling this within the Spry 1.6 javascript code?
Thanks.
nikon d40x flash Aug 24, 09, 5:02 a.m.
Got a nikon d40x about a year ago and just recently the flash has suddenly started to act up.
The camera doesn't flash at all now, but every now and again it will flash randomly after maybe 50 shots and gives a way overexposed shot.
I've found a few tutorials online as to how to fix this by taking the camera's flash apart... sounds pretty suspect to me..
Anyone here have a similar issue with a flash?
Or do I just send it off to Nikon and give them the price of a new camera to fix it?
flash link problemo Jul 10, 09, 2:50 a.m.
Ok. This is stupid simple but it is really bugging me. Im just trying to add a simple url link to a piece of text within a flash file.
I've added the url in the actions panel, but the link doesn't seem to be working for me when i upload the file to the site.
Any ideas why? I've searched lots of forums but cant see what I'm doing wrong.. any ideas qbn flash gurus?
Bloody Airport Express Jun 8, 09, 5:03 a.m.
Ok, so i am trying to connect a PowerMac G5 wirelessly to my router.
To do that, I have purchased an Airport Express, which i thought i could hook up to my G5, via ethernet to make my G5 wireless...
But i don't think the airport can work like this, or can it? Do i just need an airport extreme card in the G5?
I realsise qbn is not a mac technical support forum but its the only place i can come to share my feelings.... cannot seem to find out things like this from the apple site.
airport express / extreme May 27, 09, 3:03 p.m.
haalo, anybody got airport express / airport extreme?
I need to connect my G5 tower power mac thinggy wirelessly at home. Considering the express or extreme. Does the Airport express have a very good range / or is it the same as the airport extreme?
Would appreciate anybodys feedback if they have either of these.
oldies websites May 18, 09, 4:55 a.m.
I'm working on an identity and website for old people.
With regards to the web, i know they like the massive text, and all that jazz. Anyone got any good references to sites designed specifically for the oldies?
thanks
you love bikes May 13, 09, 2:42 p.m.
anybody here got any knowledge/experience with bikes?
so im thinking of buying this giant crs 1.0, not sure if its The One™ for me...
http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en…
It's really a commute bike for work, mainly on some kind of road i guess... but I would like something that isn't going to give me sore nuts going over humps and bumps...
I'm sure a bike-specific forum would be the place to go, for a question like this, but that's crazy talk.. you qbn'ers are much more qualified.
so any recommendations?
