How to deal with this?

Had an email from someone this morning who I've never spoken to (but whos name does sound familiar as being part of the client company) saying that one of my previous clients has basically had their hands in the till and has been using an ecommerce site I built a while back to rip off customers.

Now, the crunch here is that the client I dealt with who apparently has been sacked by the company for being a thief is the person who I signed a contract for work and they are the one who paid me.

The new person however is requesting I take down the site but I'm loathed to do so without some sort of evidence of wrongdoing because as far I'm concerned the contract was fine and the job paid for nearly 2 years ago.

Any thoughts on what I might do about this?

I still host the site on my server and while I'm not shitting it about being sued at this stage, I wonder if there's any sort of possible comeback for me hosting a site that is potentially ripping off people by taking orders then simply running off with the money?

Cheers

J

localhost management

Anyone got any thoughts how I can switch between using xampp set up on a drive (which I use nearly all the time) and a recently installed IIS which I'll be using to work on some asp pages?

I know there's a little windows app that you can use to switch between various different localhost sites (ie, what shows up when you go to localhost) but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called.

Any thoughts how I can run xampp and IIS side by side and switch between as needed?

Cheers.

author meta

Perhaps a daft question but I'm doing a site for a client who doesn't want me to steal their search engine thunder by having it appear in my folio as they want to position it as being done in house but I was wondering if I add a meta head tag to the pages with my details would that show up in the search engines in any way?

They don't mind me commenting the code particularly but just don't want visible links back to me.

Cheers,

BT Fresca/e-commerce

Anyone used BT Fresca to develop e-commerce sites? I like the look of some of the client sites and some of the features and I wondered if any of you folks had any experience of using this and what it's like etc?

wordpress themes

anyone make and sell wordpress themes?

I was wondering if it's worth the effort trying to sell them as a little side thing? It looks like a lot of work in a competitive market but something that would possibly just tick over and make a few bucks.

Is it worth it?

mentalists in UK

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/u…

"The latest salvo in creationism's increasingly ferocious battle with evolution is about to be fired in Lancashire. Not in a fiery sermon preached from the pulpit, but in the form of a giant Christian theme park that will champion the book of Genesis and make a multi-media case that God created the world in seven days."

Good grief, they're trying to set up a park of madness in the UK. I didn't even know there was a "theory" of creation, more a "whimsical notion of madness"?

quick bit of help folks ..

Dead boring I know but ...

Is anyone aware of any bugs relating to IE6 that stops certain tables on a page being printed out?

If you visit this page: http://caribbeanconnection.mixd.… in firefox and hit print preview you'll see how it should look when printing, if you visit the same page in IE6, it seems to chop out some of the data tables when you print preview.

I don't know of any reason why it should do this and I need to get some sort of response today so if anyone has come across anything similar, I'd be very grateful for some pointers.

Cheers,

J.

Selling large photo prints

anyone recommend anywhere that you can sell photos online (more a gallery than stock images I guess) where they'll deal with all the printing/ordering etc and just pay the person who's uploaded the photos a percentage?

(Ideally UK based)

backing up

I've finally got round to buying an external drive to back everything up on my machine, how does everyone go about backing stuff up (windows)?

Do you just manually copy stuff regularly or is there any decent software you can schedule backups with?
