Idiot-proof website design tool? May 21, 12, 5:17 a.m.
Hey,
a couple of weeks ago, somebody in here mentioned this browser-based website design tool (hosting was included). A solution for building a website for people without any prior design experience.
It had a super-simple interface. The website had a light-blue and white design (kind of reminded me of Skype).
Any ideas?
Why are there more IOS apps? Apr 14, 12, 3:14 a.m.
Okay, i get that Apple kickstarted the whole smartphone-game with style, and everyone got Iphones at first. But now there are way more Android-devices than Iphones. WP7 is still a niche market, but has huge potential, IMO...
So why are there still so few apps on Android Market, compared to Appstore (let's ignore Windows Market for now)?
If you develop something successful for Iphone, is'nt there shit loads of money to be earned by promptly making an Android version of it?
Has Apple made some sort of shitty contractual monopoly licencing clause involved in making an IOS app, that prevents the companies from releasing it for Android as well, or within a reasonable amount of time (something cool for Iphone takes months or even years to come out on Android, if it's released for Android at all)?
The offline life Apr 11, 12, 2:19 p.m.
I recently overheard these two twenty-something hipster types having a conversation in some coffeeplace (in Copenhagen), about how Facebook and Twitter are for retards, how people are unable to live outside their computers and phones (they both had Iphones...). A conversation about intellectual-sounding books nobody ever heard about ensued. The volume of the conversation was loud enough, so we all were able to listen in. How kind.
This vaguely reminds me of how it was cool to brag about not owning a TV some years ago.
I've seen one or two people with John's Phones (you can't even send or receive texts with these):
This made me think:
&feature=plcp&context=C493e579VDvjVQa1PpcFOgb-F9cIn-JfF8hgeKAhiyxBJgJSZY0bQ%3D
This made me laugh my ass off:
I'm not about to get a 1988-type cellphone, or start writing paper letters instead of spending time on Facebook, or move to amishcountry anytime soon. I am however, getting tired of years of sitting in front of a computer for work, entertainment, communication and, quote-unquote, socializing. And it always seems, that when you yourself are getting exited about or tired of something, chances are you're not the only one. Is it just me, or is there a (weak, but noticeable) movement towards less technology being the next big all the rage trendy hip indie cool young people thing?
I'm from Denmark. Do you see this happening, and if so, where are you from?
Thoughts on this?
Douchebag graphics & style Mar 29, 12, 5:28 a.m.
Hit me with your worst examples. Overphotoshopped, with cheap FX, "rad" stock vector shit everywhere, and so on.
Keywords: energy drinks, fake tits, tribal tattoos, trance DJ's, customized sports cars desktop wallpapers, FHM, Jersey Shore, fake jewel encrusted phones & so on...

Makeup stock images series? Aug 14, 11, 11:27 a.m.
Hey,
I'm currently designing a website for this online cosmetics company. They need pictures, but are not willing to pay for a photoshoot. So stock images it is.
It has to be pics of girls applying makeup (eyes, lips, face, nails and so forth).
Having to scour those stock image sites for the right series is an exhausting (and very time-consuming) job. Have any you by any chance come across some tasteful (non-nineties, non-shittylooking) series lately?
:) Thanks,
Jan
Identify this sneaker? Jun 22, 11, 5:12 a.m.
Hey,
can any of you sneakerfreaks tell me the model name of this Saucony sneaker?
casual street fashion Jun 17, 11, 3:11 a.m.
Hey,
i need a couple of good links (blogs, lookbooks, webmags etc.) for pictures of casual street clothing. Vibewise brands like f.e. Carhartt, Stüssy, Vans, Penfield and similar.
Not too hipster/fashion-y, not too skateboard oriented.
It has to be pictures of people wearing full outfits, not just pictures of the clothing items by themselves.
Thanks ;)
Photobooth better resolution? Jun 2, 11, 6:34 a.m.
Is there any way to get a better resolution when using photobooth on mac? Or just some way of taking better advantage of the isight camera, that to my knowledge is 2 MP.
Yes i've tried googling it.

Most impressive website just now? Mar 22, 11, 8:16 a.m.
Hey all,
what is - in your opinion - the most impressive website right now, both in terms of aestetics and technical advancement?
No, i can't Google it, I'm QBN'ing it...

What the font? Mar 1, 11, 4:12 a.m.
I know this one, i even used it. Just forgot the name. Whatthefont is no help.
I feel like asking somebody to identify futura or something :D
Oh wasted years of school...
Help?
Font suggestion? Feb 9, 11, 9:02 a.m.
Hey,
i'm in the middle of developing an identity for a series of Lounge-music compilations, with at french-sounding name, á la Hôtel Costes.
Sounds gay? It is. Or, at least something to be played in the background of a hair salon.
I'm looking for the right typeface for the title/logo (I'm thinking uppercase letters). Vibewise something plain but classy, maybe with an Art Déco twist (but not neccesarily). I always end up using Avant Garde Gothic or Futura for occasions like these. Or, i dig around Myfonts for two hours and end up using the aforementioned.
Any suggestions?

PXM file? How do i open? Dec 7, 10, 2:56 a.m.
A client sent me a PXM file to look. So, apparently it's some ancient "Pixelmator" format. Photoshop won't open. Any tips?
Argh,
Jan
Cliché californians Dec 2, 10, 4:27 a.m.
Could these people BE any more cliché Californians: &feature=player_embedded
?
From their forced childlike sense of wonder (looking through holes in bread, giggling), the-world-is-my-oyster-way of sitting on the sidewalk, to gay surfer bakers...
The bread does look amazing, though :)
Mouse injuries Dec 1, 10, 6:08 a.m.
What do you do? Googling it gives you mostly advice for people who don't use the mouse ALL DAY like i do.
Wacom pens are no help (for me at least), they strain the same muscles.
Trackballs suck balls.
Suggestions? Please?

Free laptop woohoo... oh, a PC... Oct 12, 10, 4:43 a.m.
So, the jobs buying me a laptop. For various technical reasons, it has to be a PC. I know I'm among Macfans here, so this is a potentially dangerous question, BUT -
Maybe I'll ask like this: If you were FORCED to buy a PC laptop, which one would it be? Money's not the issue, tolerable (preferably good) design is.

issuu-esqe feature in Indesign? Aug 27, 10, 1:05 a.m.
Hey,
this might be asking for old info, but somebody told me there is a feature in Indesign that allows you to generate a web view of you publication (flash?), sorta like issuu.com.
I can't find it, and I don't know what to google for (spare me the ancient & lame lmgtfy.com joke).
Anyone?
Thanks,
Jan
