You know, I thought I wasted a lot of time on the internet. Let me just break something down:
You have: 38,324 : responses. You joined in 2003...
38324/5 = 7665
7665/365 = 21
By this, on average, you post one reply every hour, 21 hours a day, every day, for 5 years. This, to me, is a whole new level of message board dedication.
I'm going now, so that my head can explode in privacy.
Yeah so... Dec 23, 09, 7:37 p.m.
...you know omegle? The random anonymous IM thing? Well try this, might get a good laugh (or violent shock): http://www.chatroulette.com/
Same deal but with video :D I think I just flipped devil horns to about 100 people. Oh, and there are actually a few chicks, though few and maybe far in between.

What: drinks and smokes presumably, in order to celebrate digdre's Excellent US Adventure.
Where: Dunno. Somewhere that doesn't suck and doesn't mind just a couple college kids *cough cough*

Thoughts? Ideas? It's supposed to go on t-shirts for the Jay Nolan Classic Blood & Steel fencing tournament, benefiting autism care/research.
I have a few sketches on paper but this is all I could throw onto the computer before totally losing my focus and having no idea what I should do next– consider this a digital equivalent of scribbling in the margin (Illy isn't working at home so I've got to make the 1.5hr drive to the graphics lab @ school to do anything more).
I was asked to do it (free, of course) so between testing and my college apps I haven't had any time to think about it really. I tried a number of different positions and came to like this one the best (though originally I had the epee following the slope of the arm, which I may go back to). Didot seemed to fit well and I'm prone to ribbony things so I might draw something to replace that reversed ampersand... anyway have at it, it's a bit of a drive so I expect a full page of helpful criticisms and disparaging remarks by the time I get home.
HTML Table May 13, 08, 7:13 p.m.
I've been around this so many times, but lately the W3C has pissed me off and their standards are practically worthless (not entirely their fault, but their snail pace and the fact that none of them are successful web designers doesn't help). Anyway, as much as I love DIVs and SPANs and used to trash talk the table junkies, doesn't it just make sense to use tables? I mean for all practical reasons tables are just better since their nature is the grid, which is how I formulate a design in the first place.
Anyone think I'm crazy, apathetic, or feel like doing the same?
Trashy pop. Feb 3, 10, 12:32 p.m.
I need more. Lady Gaga (think Lovegame), Ke$ha, all that stuff. The more autotune, appalling beats, and all that shit the better. Preferably hot, but hyper trashy and energetic works too. It needs to have a girl singing though.
Everything I find has this sentimental shit on it– I want none of that. I want it to smack me in the face with throbbing synthesizers, blatant sexuality, and all the stupidity imaginable at any party dominated by 16-year-old girls who rolling on e and writing degrading terms on their friends' pelvic bones...
Bryce... Aug 3, 08, 9:32 p.m.
Did you ever go to the Stony Brook School?
Um... 'critique'? Mar 30, 08, 8:22 p.m.
Okay, well put simply, I don't do type... I know basically nothing about it, blah blah blah, I'm 16 and not yet allowed to take typography at my school. Anyway, tear me apart because I need to learn.
I just want a simple little image to place atop my portfolio.
2010 Death List Dec 21, 09, 3:49 p.m.
"So you get 3 picks then this time next year we resurrect it. Generally, one that is likely to happen, one that could happen and one outsider."
So it was started around this time last year, what the hell why don't we make a 2010 thread. New decade comes new celebrity deaths!

By Digitas or something, anyway...
Apologies to real Australians and anyone who has had the displeasure of actually drinking Foster's.

Mindfucked by Tetris Aug 2, 08, 10:32 p.m.
So about a year ago I got really hooked on Tetris... (Quinn for OS X, actually...) and I played it probably for around 6-8 hours a day religiously for an entire week. I would wake up around 4am to play for a half hour just to stay sharp or something. During (and a little after this time) reality started getting really dreamy and distorted. Everything started fitting like tetris pieces, it was real strange. Every object in sight had to be organized to fit and whenever I walked it was on carefully planned paths to weave through an imaginary crowd. I had Riiiiight/JamalJenkins/JesseJens... revelations with everything I saw and did, and it was really fucking weird because I felt just like a machine processing everything I sensed. Every time I wanted to draw, everything would end up being evenly spaced block forms or else I'd get a headache. Even when I ate, I had to read the nutrition info to bring all of the parts to odd ratios. Just wondering if anyone else has done this or what, it's got to be the most innocent thing I've ever done to have such an extreme effect. I try not to bring on the weird here, but someone else I know was talking about it last week and was relieved that someone else had the same thing :P
P.S. Don't try it if you're afraid of migraines.
desks Feb 14, 08, 8:42 p.m.
So I'm thinking of getting a desk, and I had a little fun reminiscing over some of my favorites in the past (note: I do not necessarily have the money to afford any of these)...

hello Feb 4, 08, 8:08 p.m.
so instead of just barging in on the community, I thought I'd take a second to give a formal (okay, not quite) hello.
I am Ian Clark Smith. I am 16 in 19 days. I dropped out of high school and attend a community college, where I take multiple art & design classes to keep myself disciplined. I also play neoclassical guitar, on average 6-8hrs a day. I listen to lots and lots of music spanning many genres, excluding country, crappy death metal (and various spin-offs), and most rap. I consider myself too young and inexperienced to call myself an artist, musician, or designer, however I have been deeply involved with all of them since I can remember. I live in Sharon, CT which is 2hrs from NYC– where I was born and plan to return to come college time. My schools of interest for college are in no particular order: Cooper Union, Georgia Tech, NYU, MIT, Oxford, and RIT. My father is an architect, illustrator, and architectural renderer (http://www.clarksmithrendering... and my mother is an interior designer. I consider myself a libertarian. My family has a history of chronic insomnia. I believe drugs are a [very] good thing when used responsibly. Philosophy is an integral part of my life. I have no style. I make an effort not to be materialistic or. I rarely speak when I don't feel it's necessary. I am not a boring person, but I do not present myself well when I'm not playing music.
Face...
You almost know everything about me, so lay on the hate! Just kidding. Please, just say something cool. Or if you have any advice on school, self-schooling (like free/paid resources for artists/designers, summer programs/internships in NYC, etc), or awesome [design] books that I should read (like Grid Systems in Graphic Design) then speak up. Heh. This was long...
