Knock-off Olympic branding May 17, 12, 9:33 a.m.
Roy McCarthy has created a free alternative to official Olympic branding for those who can't afford sponsorship dollars.
IE comeback? Mar 19, 12, 6:11 p.m.

They're pulling a Dominos by admitting how disliked they are, but promising it's good now. Gutsy, but I hope it's too late. Rot in Hell, IE.
PDF mailto: issue Mar 8, 12, 7:34 a.m.
Designed a form PDF for a client with a submit button (a mailto: link) so the end users can email it back. The problem is that on our Macs, hitting Submit brings up the email with the PDF as an attachment, as expected, but when the client does it on a Windows PC the email is sent automatically in the background.
Any ideas on how to make it behave as it does on Macs?
Idea for a logo book... Jan 25, 12, 12:17 p.m.
Let's say I have an idea for a book about logo design. Along the lines of the Los Logos series, let's also say.
Whose permission do I need to include a particular logo? Assume it's trademarked and all that.
I figure it's either "everyone and their lawyers'" or "nobody because of some copyright law thing".

The Divide Oct 26, 11, 7:19 a.m.
Saw it last night at Toronto After Dark. Holy hell it's grim and disturbing – think of 'The Road' set in a bunker – but the crowd was cheering and oh-no-ing through the third act.
Find/replace fonts in multiple ID files? Aug 17, 11, 1:23 p.m.
Is there a way to find and replace missing fonts in MULTIPLE (open) Indesign files at the same time?
All I'm getting from Google is the regular Find/Replace and one-at-a-time Font find/replace stuff.
I have like 30 of these files with 5 missing fonts each that need to be swapped out for our own versions.
Ps CS3 missing fonts list? Jul 21, 11, 11:34 a.m.
Is there a way to make Photoshop display a list of fonts in use/missing, similar to Illy and Indesign?
The "some fonts are missing" and "some type needs to be updated" warnings are super helpful but utterly useless without this ability.

ID spot colour trouble Apr 12, 11, 11:14 a.m.
Indesign (CS3) doesn't seem to like PSDs with transparent background placed on spot colours. The spot prints, but the image only comes out as a white silhouette. Any idea what's going wrong?

Production Guidelines Mar 4, 11, 12:22 p.m.
I've been tasked with updating (more like creating) the studio's production guidelines – stuff like file naming practices, docket folder structure, final file prep, etc.
I know how we do things, but I'm wondering if there are any examples I could take a look at for presenting the info, or maybe even adopt ideas from.
It's pretty straight forward, but it's Friday, I'm bored, and willing to be surprised.
