I'm sick of Dreamhost, any old DH customers switch to a greener knoll?

Another day of network outages, another round of thought suggesting I should just bite the bullet and pay mediatemple premium for quality customer service...

Not that I'm trying to rip on Dreamhost, but I'm tired of having major outages like this.

Can anyone recommend a good switch that doesn't take a freaking week or two to transfer over existing VPS systems?

Perfect Bound Page count

Hi,

Please help me figure this out, a production manager at a local agency is insisting that a 16 page (double sided) document is to be perfect bound.

Is this even going to work? I thought perfect bound had to have a few more pages than 16 pages + cover

iMac colour calibration

Hey, so I'm just wondering how many of you use an iMac for the majority of your studio work. Do you find the colour can be calibrated adequately?

I'm a student looking to buy a good monitor but I'm wondering if I should just pick up a nice 27" iMac and save some dough.

How do you name your project?

So I'm wondering how you go about naming your projects, I'm more interested in others approaches to graphic design or interactive design projects, but anything goes!

I tried searching the threads for a similar subject but couldn't find anything.

Moo.com - Canadian alternative?

So I was going to order some business cards from us.Moo.com, nice looking stuff they got going on there, trouble is the shippings going to take two weeks and I'm far too impatient to wait and not idiotic enough to spend another $45 just for 7 day priority shipping.

Any Canadian friendly alternatives for cards that can have individualized fronts?

Muji + Canada

Any takers on sharing thoughts regarding Muji in Canada?

I'm thinking of thesis topics (advertising) that may be a good fit for the next fall semester.

I for one would love to see a Muji shop/stall in Toronto.

Google Map Location Locator?

So I'm creating an online store locator and I think one of the best ones I've seen is this one by Muji.

Anyone know any good tutorials or companies doing this?

So I'm in this competition and I'd love your help!

Hey, so I'm studying to be an advertising art director at the Ontario College of Art & Design in Toronto, and I'm trying to spread word of a competition that I am participating in, that will be decided by an online public vote.

First I want to mention I am not asking you to vote for my submission in particular, I just think it would be great to have this communities input, especially those from Toronto, to help decide which entry should be the winner.

OCAD and Astral Media Outdoor run an annual competition where they challenge third year advertising students to create original outdoor artwork that responds to the statement “My Toronto is” with a creative expression of cultural optimism.

So I would love your feedback on what you think of the four entries and I would encourage you to vote... I have confidence that my partner and I have created something which has a chance to win this thing, and if we do,
we get to split a cash prize and gain a little fame which could be a stepping stone to an internship and maybe the beginning of a career.

So please visit http://www.mytorontois.com and vote for your favourite entry. You can vote once a day until the end of May, and who knows perhaps your vote will help out a fellow QBN member!

Be sure to tell your friends the more people who vote the better chances I win!

Thanks!

Wondering if it's cool to ask for votes in a contest...

My partner and I have had our contest submission shortlisted so we are one of four groups that is going to have our worked printed out and placed in transit shelters around Toronto. There is a website that will go live in the next two weeks which will offer the public the opportunity to vote on their favourite piece of work.

I'm not asking for votes for my submission in particular, I just would love to get as many people as possible in on this which will inherently up the odds of more people voting overall, and perhaps for my groups submission as well.

If there are not any concerns I'll go ahead and make a post asking for the QBN community to throw down some votes... I'll make sure to place a brief so that there is some context but essentially the goal of the ad is to make people smile... the more smiles there are the happier our world will be... corny but true...

Yay or Nay?

Your favourite analytics tracker...

So I am contemplating purchasing a license for mint (haveamint.org) but I was wondering if anyone here has some experience with it or alternative recommendations. I was also thinking about using Stuffed Tracker but it's almost twice as expensive.

I'm trying to avoid hosting analytics with goooooogle or any other third party, the idea of hosting it on my own server is nicer to me.
