South Ossetia Aug 26, 08, 11:49 a.m.
South Ossetia and its citizens are a part of Georgia and rightly should be. Russia's recent actions against Georgia are a gross violation of basic human rights and they warrant a militaristic response in my opinion.

Sound advice for those of you looking for speculative plays in the anal ring toss sector.

hedge realization Aug 19, 08, 12:21 p.m.
As I was on my way back from lunch with a senator regarding potential future legislation, I realized something. Maybe the people of QBN actually don't want to hear about my seven figure salary. Perhaps they're not interested in knowing about my $2.4m Manhattan apartment, my cabin in Aspen, or the new Bugatti parked outside of my condo in LA. It's possible that they're tired of hearing about my black patent calf leather shoes from Hugo Boss, my tailored Armani suit or my slightly dated gold Rolex watch.
Could this be the case or am I way off base here?
So get this... Aug 17, 08, 5:38 p.m.
Last night Scott Montgomery, who works at JP Morgan as an investment banker (lol #1), walks over to our table wearing a double-breasted navy blue blazer with mock-tortoiseshell buttons, a prewashed wrinkled-cotton striped dress shirt with red accent stitching, a red, white and blue fireworks-print silk tie by Hugo Boss and plum washed-wool trousers with a quadruple-pleated front and slashed pockets by Lazo. (lol #2)
He's holding a glass of champagne and hands it to the girl he's with - definite model type, thin, okay tits, no ass, high heels - and she's wearing a wool-crepe skirt and a wool and cashmere velour jacket and draped over her arm is a wool and cashmere velour coat, all by Louis Dell'Olio. High-heeled shoes by Susan Bennis Warren Edwards. Glasses by Alain Mikli. Pressed-leather bag from Hermès.
Can you guys believe that? The brokers and I just exchanged compliments on our attire and moved along to discuss the new Price account handler; one none other than Scott.
starting another fund Aug 18, 08, 2:13 p.m.
I'm considering creating a second fund soon. It would be a 130/30 fund of funds. The thing is most of my institutional investors are staying invested in my original hedge fund. Would anyone be interested in a prospectus?
You must, however, be an accredited investor to be considered: a net worth exceeding $1 million, personal income of $200k+, etc. Check the SEC Rule 501 of Regulation D if you are unsure.

a big dilemma Aug 15, 08, 6:04 p.m.
Inheritance. How much of your fortunes will you all be leaving to your offspring? Personally, I will try to find a good balance between giving my fortune to charity versus giving to my children. If you give your kids everything they desire they will never have a drive to succeed.

surplus/deficit misdirection Aug 13, 08, 12:21 a.m.
I've seen this image posted a few times around here. It is completely misleading and fallacious.
Here's why.
This article explains the Clinton myth. http://www.letxa.com/articles/16…
Also from the wikipedia page: "Under Clinton, the United States had a projected federal budget surplus for the first time since 1969."
Any idiot can have a projected budget surplus. All that means is that they were *planning* for a particular year to go into the green. The reality is it never happened.
Life... Aug 13, 08, 3:28 p.m.
It's great right now. I'm taking a much needed fishing excursion to Iceland this month and the summer has been a very profitable one for the fund. We've signed on three new investors, two of which are whales, and we're constantly growing. We just hit the $200 million dollar mark in capital under management last week too.
How are your lives going this summer?

I'm going at the end of the month with some people from our derivatives department. Have any of you been?
We're letting some of our traders even take this entire month off. There's a lot of golf being played in the Hamptons right now.

promotions Jul 23, 08, 11:59 a.m.
My employees seem to consistently ask for raises or promotions and it is rather frustrating.
Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem giving raises to a rockstar equity trader whose results merit such actions. But if you don't deserve it, I won't give it to you.
I am awesome Jul 22, 08, 9:16 a.m.
I just closed TWO private equity deals.
