Branded flash games Dec 8, 10, 1:42 p.m.
What are some of the best branded web and flash games you've seen?
By "best" I mean really tight integration of brand graphics with the game itself. Detailed work with seamless branding.
Looking for big brands, the Wrigleys and M&Ms of the world.

Great album packaging Nov 8, 10, 9:02 a.m.
Looking for examples of interesting record/CD/tape packaging from the past. Something you remember that really stuck with you. Not just album cover art, but extensive or memorable extras.
For example: Sgt. Pepper album opened up, had a booklet, came with cardboard cutouts, etc.
Things like that. thx

Audio rights question Jun 22, 10, 12:13 p.m.
Odd question. I've created this promo animation using, as a placement track, an edited version of the music from this old movie theater bumper:
Does anyone have any idea who might own that, or how I can find out? The deadline for final video is kind of now-ish, even though the client is dragging their feet on music. I was originally supposed to contract original music to be created, but I don't think they want to pay for it. Finding a piece of stock sound doesn't look good, and might as well pay for original music with the licensing cost of stock.
I was toying with the idea of suggesting that they use this, after checking with their lawyer, because it's perfect for the piece, and see if anyone comes knocking claiming ownership.
Any ideas? Any way to find out if its simply in public domain?
veiny fonts May 21, 10, 5:36 a.m.
Trying to find a stylized font that has illustrative bulgy veins or viscera.
Sort of like this:
But could be used for a logo for a toy/cartoon like this:
Any suggestions? Thx
neat event in NYC May 18, 10, 4:56 a.m.
A close friend in NYC is part of a nifty video portrait event on Friday, May 28. Just putting a shout out to see if anyone is interested in being involved. Email me if you want the actual contact. Here is the email I received:
For those of you who have said you would like to participate in the RED portrait shoot with UK videographer Terry Flaxton and even for those of you who can't make it, we need as many pre-arranged people as we can get. We are looking for a diverse group, like the one Terry lists below, and each should bring a prop, a symbol of who s/he is. If you know ANYone who might like to be in the portrait, we welcome them to join you! That means mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, sisters, brothers, eccentric closet relatives, nutty friends, homeless people you might talk to, cops you talk to for protection, whoever.
At present, we are considering Petrosino Park, Five Points, Charles St. Pier. Will make a decision today or tomorrow.

Cinema 4D modeling May 12, 10, 1:25 p.m.
I don't do a ton of modeling in C4D, so this is eluding me -
I'm building out some basic stuff for a street scene - lights, newspaper vending thingie, etc. All low poly.
I've noticed that when I start to extrude and push/pull stuff around in the model, the mesh starts to get that funky shaded look. I seem to remember that it means the mesh isn't exactly stable and it might present problems later?
Is that accurate? What's the fix for that?
Iconic Hollywood locations May 10, 10, 4:37 p.m.
Can you list some? Thx.

Having 'representation' Feb 12, 10, 6:36 a.m.
Not so much a design query, per se, but wonder if anyone knows (personally) any commercial directors/producers/writers who are represented by a particular talent agency, and how they may have gotten said agent or rep? Curious about the process and circumstances.
C4D rigging question Feb 2, 10, 1:37 p.m.
Doing some dedicated training in character rigging and animation.
So I've modeled this rudimentary robot guy. I've spent the day learning about joints, IK, and the weight tool, but I am seeing some differing opinions, in that this wouldn't be the best way to rig/animate a mechanical device, since joints act as deformers.
I also recently upgraded to 11.5, so I'm not seeing any tutorials addressing this at all. The training materials I do have are either too general, or specific (covering organic characters).
Any ideas?
A handful from 10,000... Jan 29, 10, 9:26 a.m.
responses on QBN since 2003. What should that 10,000th comment be? Not just an OSFA reference. A curse? Well wishes? An attempt at profundity, or irony?
Suggestions?
Long payment cycles Jan 27, 10, 8:51 a.m.
Do you find that when working as a freelancer for agencies/clients who have long pay cycles (60 days, for example) you usually just have to deal with it and plan for it, or are you able to negotiate different terms?
