work ≠ personal satisfaction Apr 25, 12, 9:56 a.m.
aside from all of the fun we have here, my boss and former "art director" keep saying that designers shouldn't expect to get personal satisfaction from their work. That this is a business, and we're here to serve the client needs, etc, bs, etc.
This to me is utter bullshit, but I can't seem to figure out where they think they are coming from.
wtf kind of perspective is that?
when Canon EOS Rebel T3? Mar 11, 11, 5:02 p.m.
anyone have an idea when it's actually hitting the stores in the US?
everywhere I see pre-order, but no one's saying when it actually ships.
pre-order and wait 1 month? 2 months, 3 months? to actually get it?
3 pair hexcodes Jan 13, 11, 1:31 p.m.
do you all think 3 pair hexcodes are too limiting?
I friggin love the simplicity of #fc1 or #ffcc11, #336699, #369 and so on, but is it too old school or limiting (like morecrayons.com)?
instead the fucking of crap like #fccd18, #a173df
clever sounding but... Nov 4, 10, 12:15 p.m.
...ultimately stupid marketing stunts
and if someone else is so inclined they can start another thread for "those who buy into stupid marketing stunts and want to keep them alive and give them more publicity by talking endlessly about them"
or maybe there's a way to just re-label that damn thread "Publicity for Gap"
//
there. I said it.
- crap, man. Let it go already.
I can't, it's just one of those stupid marketing tricks getting way too much attention, and prooving how much we're oriented towards consumerism.
- you're a sad little man.

who talks like this?! Oct 26, 10, 8:13 a.m.
"we have an unusual, prospective target of opportunity that may require some near term action. This is all confidential and prospective at this point.
...To exploit this opportunity, we need a simple landing page/site designed, tested and ready for a potential huge surge in traffic by November 16th.
Although we would only start off with limited content and functionality, this landing page would replace the existing site and set the stage for future design/development of the new site. Roughly, we would want basic ______ branding and descriptive information (including the space flight contest), simple placement of existing sponsors and, most importantly, the ability to capture contact info so we can notify folks about future opportunities relevant to the contest and the ______.
Would you consider jumping in and creating the landing page/site for November 16th? We can offer reasonable limited compensation. The RFP process for the overall ______ site would continue after we have the November 16th opportunity covered. Please let me know your thoughts on this as soon as you can. Thanks."

wha happen to the thread from Friday?
did it break a QBN code of conduct?
arguing designer vs designer Apr 24, 09, 1:52 p.m.
I said 2 hours, I bugged him about doing it quickly and efficiently in that time, and he still argues every single step of the project. Ultimately since he triples the time and you add my time prepping the files for him, arguing with him, and reviewing the project we are 9 hours into a 2 hour project.
Damn! Has no one ever slapped him before? I'm about ready to kick his teeth in. He can't take constructive criticism, can't take a joke, and gives you a fking encyclopedic answer to everything you tell him to do.
then you add the time to post this...geez...
