J Pitts Show - Episode 074:
Best of Two-Thousand-n-8!
--
http://www.JPittsShow.com/
http://www.jpittsshow.com/podcas…
--
The year of two thousand and eight is over. J. Pitts and DJ Nice Rec discuss the best and worst of the year amidst a countdown of their favorite 15 songs.
Oh yeah, Kevin the Robot is out of commission, so we got our friend Newk to take over in his absence.
--
This was a fun episode to record as these are my favourite, and pretty much all of our favourites to do.
2008 was a pretty good year for hip-hop looking back surprisingly, and music in general.
Here's a link to the awards, and top 15 if you don't want to listen through (but you should, it's a funny episode, especially Newk's cuts for each song, haha):
http://www.jpittsshow.com/?p=748…
Also J Pitts was interviewed for Clout Magazine recently (shout out to Larry Fresh!):

J Pitts Show - Episode 065
Man of the Hour: Madlib.

This episode is broken up into two parts.
Part I. Madlib Rapper-Centric:
http://www.jpittsshow.com/podcas…
Part II. Madlib Instrumental-Oriented:
http://www.jpittsshow.com/podcas…
---
Madlib the Bad Kid. The man behind the boards of Madvililany, the Lootpacks’ Soundpieces: Da Antidote, Dudley Perkins Expressions and countless others. There are very few producers in music, let alone hip hop with a more dense catalog. Oh and he raps, too.
You’ve got a beautiful souuuul!

ohanna Whimsy: Veer Sep 29, 08, 1:39 p.m.
Nice old-school style script font that looks like it belongs in the late 50's/ early 60's.
Dopplr: Travel Log Sep 23, 08, 8:35 a.m.
Been using Dopplr for the past two months and it is a great way to plan out your trips and let others know where you are.

Very clean site! Couldn't really decide on what to get as a screenshot. Very tits and surprisingly non-Flash way of presenting.
Vader Project, The Aug 6, 08, 7:21 p.m.
So a lot of artists got together ... and painted over the Darth Vader mask, haha. Kind of dope.
Strawberry Luna May 30, 08, 9:30 a.m.
Local Pittsburgh artist who does a lot of posters for shows, and an absolutely lovely alphabet set of prints.

Live at the BBQ!!

We had a barbecue for our 50th episode. DJ's Source and Maddbuddha held it down. We also upgraded to two microphones so hopefully we sound a little better. Big shout out to Big Zack for rocking the chef at the grill.
And most importantly THANK YOU for listening! =)
--
Some classic cuts definitely do get played (27:05), the two microphones are really serious, what's really hood!
But seriously thanks for everyone who checks the podcast out, we really are starting to get our shit together despite getting to 50 episodes in the most ass backwards way ever, haha.
Oh, and here's the ridiculous flyer Pitts made for the BBQ, haha:
No playlist because Madbuddha goes for a little over 30 minutes, and Source goes for about the same.
Shag (Josh Agle) May 6, 08, 4:43 p.m.
Haven't seen Shag posted up in awhile and I have to say, he really is one of my favourite artists. I love his style. He's great.
Network Name ... Jan 29, 08, 6:55 p.m.
I'm curious to know what people name their networks at home. Are they funny? Inside jokes? Do they mean something?
I always laugh when someone from my MIS Department has to check why my computer won't connect at work and sees all the past networks I've been on. My friends had one called "Fuck Beans" which led the one guy to go, "I don't even want to know." Haha. Basically there was a network "Beans" that they used until he put up security.
I had "GO TEAM SHAKE!" for awhile but I just changed it to, "Poupée de cire, Poupée de son." Because it has the word poopie in it twice.
Any good ones?

For those that don't know my appendix burst last week, and I got out of the hospital on Sunday (5 1/2 days!). J Dot and Nice Rec were nice enough to make an episode with some of my favourite artists/tracks to help me feel better, haha.
Which I have indeed been bumping laid up at the apartment the entire week.
The whole appendix thing worked out well because the Man of the Hour: Boot Camp Clik Episode wasn't close to being done, haha!

J Pitts Show - Episode 038
Best of 2007 Review Show!!
--
http://www.jpittsshow.com/
http://www.jpittsshow.com/podcas…
--
J. Pitts and Nice Rec review the year that was. With the assistance of Kevin the Robot, they countdown the twelve best songs of the year Casey Kasem style as well as give their own personal thoughts on their albums, MC's and more!
--
Also given out are the first "Jerome" awards which for some reason are named after me... I'm still scratching my head on this one.
I'm there for the entire episode but I try my best to be quiet during the first two talking segments, haha.
Crack episode though, I wasn't fond of 2007 Hip-Hop really so it was nice to relieve some of its better moments.
Tauba Auerbach Dec 12, 07, 12:58 a.m.
Some real nice work from someone I realized was not linked before here, or at NT which is a mistake.

He has been called "the producers' producer. J. Dilla is one of the most talented and hardest working producers in hip hop's history. Having worked with everyone from Pharcyde to MF Doom to Janet Jackson, Dilla's catalog is as diverse as it is quality. Join us as we dedicate a whole hour to the man whose mother calls him James.
There are too many tracks played on this episode, so you're on your own for the playlist. This is becoming a trend.
The best producer on the mic.

The good thing about falling off is that you have to climb back up and start being responsible. That is my pledge to you, the listener. Nice Rec and I have undergone some real changes in our lives the past couple of months, but we're back baby.
This is just a regular episode featuring Nice Rec and I doing what we do best. The only difference is that we drank Coors Light instead of Pabst Blue Ribbon.
