I turned 35 years old today..
festivities this evening will include dropping our kids off at the inlaws, dinner at a nice Thai place we like
and drinks and cake with the whole family back at the inlaws afterwards..

funny article..
speaking of which...i know a guy that doctored up his university transcripts and upped his grades to get into a nice MBA program..
he had inside info on how the registrars office worked and new that they'd take the docs at face value and not look any further..
spent weeks learning how to scratch out a 'c' with an exacto blade and reinsert an 'A' using the same font....actually came to me for some design and font advice...

hahaha..fuck it..i helped him...

he got accepted.

i don't think i've ever been to a printing co. that didn't have, basically, like every font known to man.

just one more reason why designers should be treated better...
we know where all the skeletons are burried..
or..uh..fonts....are ..uh...hidden...or something....

finally..something to show... Mar 8, 06, 10:15 a.m.

hey folks..
many of you know me around here, as i've been posting on and off for more than a few years...
however, up til now, i've never had an opportunity to show any of my work...basically been to busy doing the work itself to bother creating a site or whatever...
as of this morning tho, all that has changed..my new company has finally updated the website (big props to Scott Ord, the developer i work with)...and the site finally has a portfolio of my work from the past few years...
its not complete, but i've tried my best to pick a few of my fav projects, along with work that suits our clientelle...

one of the reasons i've never posted my work here before is that, for the most part, the crowd here is incredibly incredibly talented...i'm very much in awe of many of you...
and the other reason would be that some in the crowd here are incredibly ruthless in their critiques...which is fine, and often a good thing...but i'm a sensitive motherfucker, so be kind
;)

i'm fairly happy with most of the work i've posted in the folio, aside from the 'game cafe' stuff, wich was really for my friends little company...the layout was totally ripped from something i saw online a long time ago....i just really dug it, and my buddy needed some fliers in a hurry...
so...
if that layout was one of yours, don't freak out...i'm a nice guy, and if you knew me personaly, my bet is you'd have given me your blessings to snag your layout.... (jez kiddn)

the name is Inkstreams, and he's 'fairly' adamant that the font be some kind of handwrittin font..

for some reason, the dropshadow effect in illustrator is messed up..
it won't 'blur' the dropshadow..all i get is a hard block...
anyway to 'reset' the effect?..
or turn the blur part back on?

looks like google and sun are going to unleash an updated office product of sun's to compete with ms....
i've heard of suns office suite before, but maybe with google's distiribution power, they'll take a big dent out of microsofts pocket..
