Feature Film Cameras?

Question to all the film/video people on here, and to those who just may know about it.

I'm trying to gather images of various cameras (preferably profile images), both film and digital, to use as reference for illustrations. Other than what I've learned in the past day, this is an industry I know nothing about. I was hoping someone may be able to provide some resources, be it manufacturers, blogs/sites, well known cameras makes/models - just things I should check out that I may not come across otherwise.

I've been looking at companies/sites like:

Aaton, RED, ARRI, Panavision, Sony, Panasonic, HD Magazine etc.

Looking for these sorts of images if it helps:

Any help would be appreciated.

Strava anyone?

I know there are a number of cyclists on here; but, just wondering if anyone is on/using Strava. I signed up for it a while ago but have only recently started really using it.

For those who don't know, I would say what Nike+ is for running, Strava is to cycling - you can use an iPhone or a traditional cycling computer to track/share data.

If you're on it, follow me:

In NYC? Wanna see some films?

So my job has a bunch of comp tickets that we're giving out for today, tomorrow and Thursday. Even with employees taking their share, we usually have a bit left over so i figured I'd share. If anyone wants to see some festival films shoot me an email and I can let you know what we have available.

London apartments/sublets/shares

Hey All,

My old lady will be in London in June for 3-6 months. We've been looking around on Craigslist but just wondering if there are other sites we may not know about for finding a place to stay.

Many thanks in advance.

Glasses

Question for all of you prescription glasses wearers. But first, some backstory.

So I haven't worn glasses in a couple years. My vision isn't terrible but I do have astigmatism and have noticed my eyes feeling more tired than usual. I went to an optometrist, got an exam and got some glasses. After wearing them for a while I noticed something was off, it appeared as if everything on the left side was a bit skewed - I noticed this the most when looking at the computer screen.

Something like this:

I went back to the optometrist - different guy this time - told him what was up and got another eye exam. He said my left eye took on a bit more astigmatism since the initial exam and that could have been why. I tried out some new lenses and everything seemed good.

I got my replacement glasses in the mail last night and the same shit is happening again.

In the times that I've had glasses before I've never experienced anything like this. Just wondering if something similar has happened to anyone.

iOS5 + HTML5 Video

I've been looking around and can't seem to find any current answers.

Is it possible to have multiple embedded videos playing simultaneously? I know it was limited to a single video or audio stream previously, just wondering if anything has changed.

Thanks in advance.

jQuery Question

So I'm trying to get back into learning jQuery and have just been playing around with things to try and wrap my head around it. I apologize in advance as I'm sure the solution is simple. I've tried a few things that I thought would make it work with no results.

I'm fiddling with a sliding panel that would come down from the top of a page. I have a tab and on mouse enter the panel slides down and when the mouse leaves the panel it goes back up. It's close to what I'm trying to do except for one thing. How do I get it so that on mouse leave of the panel and the tab then the panel goes back up, instead of one or the other? Right now if the mouse stays over the tab as it slides down and then leaves, the panel wont slide back up.

Here's what I'm working with:

$("ul.tab").mouseenter(function...
if($('#panel').css('display... {
$("div#panel").slideDown("slow...
}
});

$('#panel').mouseleave(function...
$("div#panel").slideUp("slow");
})

Any help is appreciated.

Associate to "Conception"

Hey All,

Looking for words, ideas or imagery that revolve around the word conception.

Things like:
Birds and the bees
Storks
Kama Sutra
Trains going into tunnels
Rockets taking off
The movie poster for Rules of Attraction

Any help/ideas/suggestions are appreciated.
Hopefully this doesn't turn into a pseudo-porn thread; though, given the subject, I'm somewhat expecting it will....

I'm currently going through all of my bookmarks gathering examples of work in the style below.
If any of you know of anything that stands out in your mind that may fit the bill and would like to share, I'd appreciate it. If it's related to restaurant/bar/cafe, all the better.

PDF Links + Preview/Safari

Searched around on google and here and can't seem to come across anything that gives a straight answer.

I've created a PDF which contains links to websites. These function fine when viewing the PDF in Acrobat, Chrome, Google Docs etc.

When I view the PDF in either Preview or Safari, I click the links and nothing happens. Any ideas/answers would be appreciated.

The Kennedys

http://thekennedys.nl/

Sounds like a pretty cool idea.

"The Kennedys is a group of 6 young creatives selected to take part in Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam’s apprenticeship program. It is designed for creatives of all disciplines who want to join our staff for a period of 6 months so they can learn to create and produce real work.

If you are selected as one of the 6 participants, it’s time to pack your bags and move to Amsterdam. Wieden+Kennedy will cover the expenses for your travel, provide accommodation for 6 months, and a minimum-wage salary. Additionally, the participants will have a designated space in the office, will be provided with computers and software and will be granted access to Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam’s facilities (recording spaces, kitchen, gym, art studio, fruits, veggies, garden and loads of coffee)."

Taxes + Freelance

2010 was the first year I did freelance work.
I put away 30% of everything I made, expecting to pay roughly that much in taxes. I started preparing my taxes last night, the same way I've done in previous years, at the end of it all I came up with an amount owed that was roughly 60% of what I made.

It's possible that I totally fucked something up in the process, as I've never had to deal with the self-employed income bit; however, from what I could tell in my double checking, I filled out everything properly.

Anyone have any tips, insight, things I may have overlooked, accountants in the NYC area?
