Any predictions for this season? Lot of teams playing well together in pre-season, and last night in opening night games.

Glad to see Boston playing well in transition and with new lineup additions (Shaq, Daniels back in his natural playing position). Can't wait to get Perkins back healthy. Team still looks natural together.

Heat? More Cleveland-esque playing from Lebron, with very little support around the paint. Doesn't help that Wade sat out all pre-season and Chris Bosh did little other than flail around.

Lakers game: was fun to see Kobe and company also adjusting well to new team mates. They played really lazy the first half though. Matt Barnes is one of my favorite players, so it was nice to see him make some clutch plays with a team that's definitely taking another shot at rings.

Now I'm just waiting for Melo to trade away from the Nuggets so I can get a fresh jersey!

Atrocity Alert: Dwight Howard. Here's a guy who demanded a trade (try to demand a transfer with the guy who pays you) all year, shut down for the last third of the season, complained loudly about everything, had his coach fired, trashed his ownership, signed an extension, then said he claimed he didn't know what he was doing and was 'blackmailed,' and is now demanding a trade again, but only to the team of his choice. That team, incidentally, has no championship aspirations, only the potential for more endorsements revenue. Those of you who need an NBA villain, he's ready made. And dude can't even hit a free-throw.

I did some logo explorations about six months ago (around 30-40 total) for a new client of ours at work. Internally, we picked four of mine to show the client, only one of which I actually thought was decent enough for final work. In the end, the client picked the one that I liked the least. Fast-forward to today and I get called in to a black door meeting with my boss and HR lady to discuss some things, one of which was what they had concluded was blatant copyright infringement.

Now on one hand, I get that the logo this is being compared to is property of The Walt Disney Company, and we all know Disney's storied past of going after anything even remarkably (no pun intended) similar to their IP. On the other hand, I was flat out accused right off the bat, with absolutely no faith in my professional work ethic after having worked for my agency for almost a year.

I will admit that when placed side-by-side, there are similarities. Of course the same could be said for millions of other logos.

Bear in mind that the "swooshes" are not invented, they are part of the parent company's umbrella branding.

I enjoy working where I do, but right now I'm really infuriated by this lack of trust. I was inches away from being fired today over this, and am really looking to get some feedback.

I have never seen the movie "The Invisibles," nor have I ever given any of the merchandise/advertising a second glance long enough to have remembered this.

I would really like some feedback on this, and what I should do.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the difference between this sort of murder, and shooting someone between the eyes, and why these criminals walk away consistently with minor punishment. The scratch marks/damages are there on her car, she fled the scene of the accident, so where is the disconnect? I thought the role of the court system was to blindly judge a case based on the evidence at hand, and not base the outcome on a few reckless bike messengers on fixed gear bikes.

This type of thing really irks me.

I'm getting close to the time where I can finally afford an engagement ring, and all that jazz. I've been with my girl for about 8 years, and we've always said we're just going to elope and have a big party overseas for our friends and family, so no big wedding or anything like that.

How the hell can I find out her ring size, without basically implying the reason why I want to know. I'd like to at least keep it a surprise what I'm doing, and she doesn't currently wear any rings as it is, so I can't use those as a gauge.

Puppy advice. Jan 9, 09, 10:30 p.m.

I've owned/fostered/rescued a couple of dogs before, but I have close to zero experience raising a puppy up.

Everything is going great so far, except the crate training. He hasn't pissed or shat in the house just yet, but man is he god-awful annoying when I put him in the crate at night, and throughout the day to ween him into it.

Any advice? I've been good about not shushing him, or things like that. I'm pretty good at ignoring annoying things by listening to music, but sometimes I feel so bad for him, and I don't know how to help speed the process along any. To top it off, through his constant whining, he's now starting to learn to bark, and I feel like I should be teaching him that barking is NOT okay, but at the same time, I don't want to acknowledge his whining.

I have had a pretty spotty relationship with my father my whole life. It's been off and on, mostly off though. In the past, he and I would connect by phone and chat, and it was often very boring conversations about the most inane things. It always felt very forced, very stale. About five or six years ago I read him the riot act and said basically I was sick of being toyed with, etc. etc. I had written him out of my life at that point.

Couple of weeks ago he gets back in touch with me and sends me a friend request on Facebook, and starts emailing me through there. Earlier this week he said he was coming through my area for work and told me to be available for dinner last night or tonight. I guess I should have known better, because I got stood up, sitting around the house doing nothing waiting for the call. No phone call, no email, nothing.

How many of you all have this problem in your life? How do you get past it? I've tried a lot of different things. Tried forgetting, tried telling him off, etc. Nothing seems to work. I'm still stuck with that question of "Why?" in me, and I don't know how to just accept the answer: "Because that's just how it's going to always be." As a grown man I feel like I should be able to just let this go and get on with my own life, but when he pops up every now and then I guess I still get this moment of hope that maybe things will be different this time...
