In the upcoming months I am going to be responsible for developing four different websites for four different countries.

Would flat design be ideal for this? Is it modular enough to use for a template? I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.

But I do understand the objective - to design a modular template that works on handheld devices.

It would seem lame to develop one website and duplicate it three more times, am I right, or am I wrong?

WTF, why does this app suck so bad on my new MBP?

My friend said I should be using Lightroom or something like that rather than Photoshop which seemed weird because he graduated with me ten years ago. Why Lightroom over PS?

Finally, sometimes I wish that I could insta-effect my photos like instagram, but I rarely use my phone as a camera. Any suggestions besides the long hand way with layer adjustments, etc.

I used to love the matte room. But that was so long ago, like Jimmy Eats World big hit long ago.

I have to create/produce some reports for an agency, but there's no reason to fuss with sending it out... does anyone know of some clever and inexpensive ways to bind, attach, spiral, rather than making it cheapy? Something you wouldn't mind investing in for your own studio.

Everything on linkedIn returns Indian results. Thinking of starting a relationship at CCS to see if there's any alumni around.

Facebook hasn't generating any interest either.

Maybe some kind of local tweet service.

My client is picking images from istock to go on the back of his retail POP displays... the largest images I see on there are like 12X8 300 dpi.

What should I do? Can those istock images end up looking 'ok' at 500% ??? Me thinks not.

I'm not an art school graduate so I've never done this before....

I want to take an old piece of neglected wood, paint it, then put some lettering on it. How do I make huge stencils of letters?

I imagine I would cut them out and trace the letters onto the board.

I've heard of a lot of artists putting their work on a projector and projecting it onto the canvas and then painting. This doesn't seem like an effective way, nor do I want to spend the time drawing the typeface by hand on the board.

I inquired with a packaging design specialist, well the COO of the company regarding design books that will help designers get a feel for designing for retail customers... he said he asked around and couldn't find anything to give me.

I find that very hard to fucking believe. Don't you?

Off the top of my head I can think of several "influence" books regarding the psychology of getting people to buy your products...

But maybe he's right, all that's out there is books of award winning packaging design... are there?

When I landed my first job out of school at BBDO it was 2001. For a electronic music DJ at that time I was inspired by Designers Republic and the techno movement.

However I soon learned that I had to fall in line, so I looked to type foundries, paper suppliers, stock websites to be inspired for a more mainstream look/feel/ideas.

What are some of your favorite places to go besides here and fffound?

The techno movement - was it the most recent big trend? (I'm not talking of adding noise to a background or the like, but real new work sans clichés - Experimental Jet Set)

What is the driving force behind new ideas in graphic design? Typography?

Do hipsters even understand the 80s?

If someone is hung up on the 60s and 70s you'd assume that they're into "spirituality, peace, pot and pacifism." These are not necessarily bad things in my opinion.

But if someone is hung up on the 80s, for what reasons are they? Expressionism? Pop Art? These things are only aesthetic.
