Wisdom Teeth

Anybody had theirs out?

I got all of mine taken out yesterday - I also set a new record, at least with my oral surgeon who has been practicing for 36 years.

I had TEN wisdom teeth (normal people usually have 4).

I am all hopped up on Oxycodone. it is AWESOME at the moment. I'm kind of drifting in an out of awareness but happy.

Drink of the Day

This topic has been covered in 300 different threads, but I was hoping to capture what designers drink to unwind when we get off work.
Walk in the door, meet your friends, family, fellow QBN peeps– what do you drink when you need a drink?

Logo Critique

I submitted these as a feed at qbn, but no such luck - thought I'd try here.

This is one batch of preliminary concepts I've submitted (I realize there may be some kerning issues, among others) but wanted opinions on the mark, type choice, or anything else.

This is for a local methodist church. They said they needed to bring an I.D. to a morning service that had waning attendance; they've named the service "connection".

I submitted these prelims 2 weeks ago and have not heard from them, sent them a nice email asking for their input. I hope they aren't trying to ignore me.

marchstache madness

I had a friend who grew a mustache last year for the month of March - It was fun to laugh at him because it looked like ass.

Anybody heard of this or have done this?

logo crit please

This logo is for a higher-education collaborative project called ascend. my gf was asked to help with a website, and after i saw their old "logo" i felt compelled to help. (i am doing this pro-bono).

ASCEND stands for arts and science collaborative electronic network development.

I don't have much time invested in this initial concept, so going a different direction is still a possibility - i just wanted to get some outside opinions.

Logo Crit

Hey everyone -
This project has been especially difficult. It's for a juvenile division of a judicial circuit.
I started out designing more of an official looking seal, and stylized elements, but the client wasn't responsive. They wanted a more kid friendly approach. Main objectives were to show justice, kids, family, community. They required using scales, family, and kid reaching for a star. I would love some input - still tweaking on the kerning and not totally jazzed w/ the 'family' i've drawn. Thanks for any comments you may have!

Amazing Death Predictor

Trent: At age 63 you will perish under strange circumstances involving a gallon of lotion, two nine volt batteries, and a photograph of a bicycle.

...for the record, i think unicycles are sexier

July 27, 1998- June 18, 2008

This morning we had to have our dearest dog Bully put to sleep. He went peacefully, as Holly and I held him and kept him calm.
He was diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma a little over a month ago, and though he was a trooper, he just couldn't go on any longer. His suffering became apparent this weekend, so we knew it was time. He was a best friend and will be missed more than can be expressed in words. We are hoping that this isn't too difficult for Bruno; Bully's older brother, and are trying to shower him with all love and attention we can give, but it's been hard today.

Ten years is a long time, but not long enough.

You will be missed B.

Golden Girls

My fiance found this shirt and sent it to me. $24 is ridiculous for a tee, but at least for a bit, she was entertaining the idea about purchasing one.

http://www.delias.com/item.do?ca…

She (though she may not shout it from the rooftops) is a fan of "The Golden Girls" television show. I have given this sitcom numerous chances, and sometimes have chuckled at Sopia's quick wit, and Rose's dim-wittedness, but by the end of the show, was always glad it was over.
There's something about a show documenting the lives of four geriatrics; one who is hornier than a 3-balled tomcat, and another who has testicles larger than Ron Jeremy, that just doesn't say must-see tv to me.

ok, ok, i'll give it one more chance.

Leopard and .htaccess

Since files beginning with a '.' are hidden from view, how do developers using Leopard (or maybe any version of OS X) edit .htaccess files? I found an app called xMod, but wanted to see if there are other ways or apps you may use. Thanks!

Wishlist

My mother asked me to give her a Christmas wishlist the other day, and it made me think...... what do i want?

It was so easy when I was a kid. I wanted a new action figure, or castle grayskull (yes, i was a he-man fan). One time i even got a nintendo gameboy.

Now, I could care less if I receive anything. My focus has shifted from the joy of receiving (don't get me wrong - that's nice...) to the joy of watching someone else's face light up when they open a package from me. It gives me such a warm feeling.

The only things I can even think of are possibly a gift certificate at a frameshop or, books on typography, logo design, grid systems, etc.... am I a total nerd?

Over the past few years it's gotten harder and harder to think about what I would like for x-mas, I guess that it's really more for the kids......

So what would you ask for? What were you into when you were a kid? Just kinda curious.

bioethics site crit

this is an initial layout for the american society of bioethics and humanities website. they want "something that is relatively simple + that does not require a lot of images or artwork".

http://bulletfactory.com/dev/asbh/home_001c.jpg

please let me know what you think of the layout, color scheme, type/image usage, etc. I'm just not quite sure. start over, go with it, tweak it?

Thanks!!
