a client wants an illustration of a complex piece of machinery. they have 3d data of it (don't know the software). what format should i ask them to export for me to have luck with opening and editing in illustrator cs5?

in illustratoe cs5 the »select same appearance« function is a bit lavisch with interpreting »same«. is there a way to select objects of the absolute very same appearance?

i have to blow up a couple of images makeshift and short-dated. output should be split into A4 pages. rasterbator did this, but it's offline and the standalone ist windows only. does anyone know an alternative solution? thanks!

i need to replace my antiquated power mac to work with new adobe software, mainly after effects (complex compositing and animation). i know windows is better but i decided to stay on mac. but i could not find any mandatory information on what would be the best mac set for this. advice or links would be much appreciated.
