Show some old work (Revised)

This thread is a place to show some old work from your archives. Please include only one project per post and provide as many of the following information points as well:

- The approximate date or year it was produced
- The client, the company you worked for, the position you held
- The purpose of the project
- The technical production method (software versions, other credits, etc)
- Any other anecdotal information that may be of interest regarding the project.

Looking at old work is one thing, but knowing the story of how and why it happened makes it more interesting!

********************************...

Date: September 1992

My first ever piece of print after moving to London. Produced entirely in Adobe Illustrator 1 (or 3, can't remember) which had no layer capabilities and you had to switch to keyline view to work, then back to full preview mode, which slowly rendered a colour image, to see what you'd just done.

Consequently this took about two weeks to produce and consisted of about 10 seperate illustrator eps's which had to be overlayed at repro. I created the concept, did all the design and layout, illustrations and copywriting, and was really extremely chuffed with it at the time as I was still in my second year at college working freelance in my holidays. It featured perforations and genuine scratch off silver wax which had to be done at a special factory.

Print was by Garry Martin / Martin Colour Printers, Dublin. Product photography by Sandro Sodano.

(crit) Refreshing Honesty?

... or just arsey wanker with a chip on my shoulder

I have dropped in a project in the big messy stack of projects that nobody would ever manage to look at. To accompany it Have put the following text, which is honestly how I feel about the work. My gf thinks I sound like a cnut and thinks the person for whom the was done would be upset to read it. Opions would be welcome...

"Below: Sugarush Beat Company Illustrations

The dormant art director in me wanted to scream at these people to let me create a totally different visual concept for this band's debut marketing campaign.
However, I wasn't appointed as art director but as illustrator, and the leader of the band had such an unshakeable faith in his vision of a cartoon band in a vivid sugary world that it was clear from the get-go it would be impossible to sell a more edgy and 'cool' direction in. As illustrations, the work is fine. It did the job and the client was very pleased. As a visual story for a band who's musical style
should be appealling to the the very very ubercool urban-fusion crowd.... its alarmingly commercial and dare I say it, even rather childish. I fear that anyone liking the band's sound will be put off by the rather inelegant character animation videos and fizzypop renderings that greet them on further inspection. Still, that's the difference between being art director and illustrator I guess.

My job was to create the world of Sugarush and to provide them with various scenes on a journey around the town where Sugarush have their magical factory. A few shown below. (Logo designed by band member)"

DULL AS ARSE

Okay, I need a new machine. Can I save myself the cost and hassle of buying a new G5 and new screen, by just buying one of those imac all-in-one arse things? or are they just not pokesome enough.

If I get the most spec'd up one I could find, would it be enough to just run CS3 - illustrator and Photoshop only?

I don't do any moving work, or 3d work, just the pixels and the vectors, but my photoshop files can go off the scale with all their layers.

I'm trying to save on space needed to host a new set-up. The imac is quite tidy and neat plus I need to keep my G5 on the bubble too. I would keep my 1st gen G5 as the peripherals mac, and do my illustration business on the imac.

Possible?

Eh?

someoneinlondon

I've never heard of this agency before. Has it ever been thrown up on the Qoob?

http://www.someoneinlondon.com/

I have just found the site to be buggy as shit but as usual that's probably more to do with me being on a 1970's version of the Safari browser. Also the type is utterly herrible to read on my monitor.

Looks like some nice work though here and there.

Skt

What the fuck ever happened to Skt...

Did he go to LA already and transcend QBN?

Is he over at Yayhooray being wry and acerbic in two words or less?

Did all the noobs get together and cave his head in with a slab?

As a noob I would have thought this would be impossible, but I really miss him round here.

Busy or quiet..

Just wondering if its generally quiet or busy out there in workland.

I've got ongoing jobs and existing clients on, so on the one hand I am really busy, but at the same time I have noticed new enquiries have slowed down since I got back from my holiday.

Also, I am finding that if I call or email someone there is no response, as though the whole world is still on holiday.

Is this bloke serious?

excerpt from:

http://www.ecoenquirer.com/polar…

"Warming temperatures in polar regions are causing an increasing number of polar bears to collapse from heat exhaustion, local hunters report.
Jeremiah Johnson, a local hunter who tracks and kills polar bears.... has seen three collapse before him in just the last month. "It just isn't sporting to shoot one of these creatures when they are suffering like this", Johnson said, as he RECOUNTED HIS ATTEMPTS TO REVIVE A BEAR HE WAS READY TO SHOOT".

WHAT?

I'm just... its.... WHAT?

Is that compassion on his part? He's going to revive it, get it back on its feet again... AND THEN SHOOT IT?

I just... this ... its....its a whole tangle of paradoxical weirdness.

Insomnia

Fried Insomniac Noodle Pie
--------------------------------...

You will need:

A bag of ham
Six louts
A kilo of micronesian belly sweat
Four gargling salesman
A sprig of wet fizz
Foo topatoes
A nigerian sledge
A song for Europe
Three halves of salted sixpence
A mixy rabbit.

Method:

Take a pinch of Kevlar, mince about with a Dandy reprint and retire to the Larkins for a pint of pie. Add a bawdy fellow, well chapped, and dust off a relative with a crabby sleight of Frenchman's hand. Mix the people's friend with the withered whisp of an elderly sign and set aside for half a tango on the terrace.

While the maid gets funky, whip a bottle of milk until total collapse, throw eggs at a pontoon until night falls, then claim the age of innocence. Depart suddenly for distant shores but walk backwards into a cupboard instead.

As co-workers rush to your aid, net them all with a dainty laugh and circumscribe them with the zest of a lamentable pine.

Deflate a cone and fall backwards into the pile, dropping little poos about the place as you go.

Pre-heat a microwave to gas mark fustard, place your credentials on code Amber-Shroud. Then simply cough into a paper cup, drizzle with pubes and clap wildly.

Soak in balm for a day, then sever all contact.

Serve with a climate controller, some chewed up carrot and a picture of a thatched roof.

Bonappy teets.

Percussion

So, do you think that all this talk of there being, erm... more percussion, in the music of our lives over the next twelve months will be a good thing or a bad thing, for... erm, people who listen to music as they work...

Lets recap. Its 'Percussion' though.

A wee, or a poo and a wee.

Lets face facts here, its not possible to poo without weeing, but it is possible to wee without pooing... sometimes.

So which is it then?

Content is NSFW...

Penis size.

I watched that Channel 4 Documentary about the sex blogger Girl With A One Track Mind at the weekend (http://girlwithaonetrackmind.bl... actually I say I watched it, I fell asleep after ten minutes, but I thought I'd just check her blog out now and picked a random point of entry (fnar fnar) from the calender.

I got this about Penis size Pros and Cons. I thought it was quite interesting to consider there are pros AND cons to both. Obviously I am massively well endowed so its interest for me was purely scientific...

2) The pros and cons of differences in cock size (in my opinion)

LARGE COCK PROS

a) It fills me up and I feel like I am getting 'fucked'
b) It pushes against my cervix and stimulates my womb
c) It pulls on my labia and thus indirectly stimulates my clit
d) It looks beautiful when hard underneath jeans
e) In fact it looks beautiful full stop
f) I feel like a girl when I hold it, or put it in my mouth
g) It can reach any position, any angle, any depth

LARGE COCK CONS

a) Being filled up can hurt and prevent me getting fucked hard
b) Pushing against my cervix constantly can be painful and annoying
c) It can rub my labia too intensely making me sore
d) It doesn't rub my g-spot
e) I can't get it all in my mouth
f) It can be more labourious to give a hand job
g) Not all positions can be comfortable
h) Forget about anal: no chance that is gonna fit in there mate

SMALL COCK PROS

a) I can get fucked as hard as I like and want
b) It can rub against my g-spot
c) The length of it can rub against my labia and tickle my clit
d) I can get it all in my mouth without choking
e) Easier to give a hand job - if it fits into one fist
f) Holding it makes me feel powerful
g) It feels wonderful inside my arse

SMALL COCK CONS

a) It doesn't fill me up, sometimes it's hard to feel it
b) It doesn't push against my cervix
c) It doesn't show through jeans when hard
d) I can't feel it pressed up against me with clothes on
e) Using fingers (not whole hand) can be frustrating when stroking it
f) Spooning is impossible
g) As is face-to-face penetration
h) As is standing up

But I really don't give a fuck either way. Cock is cock is cock. Big, small, wide, narrow: they are all the same. If I had to choose, I would say I would like to be with a man who is happy with who he is and what he looks like and isn't afraid to explore his desire or mine than with a guy who was endowed one way or the other.

Modofly

Anybody here know anything about these people... who they are, how I can get hol dof them?

Last week they invited me to contribute some artwork for their etched Moleskine notebooks project which they sell.

I replied saying I was interested last week. Bounced back. I checked their email and found an alternative address, emailed that... bounced back this morning (different address entirely).

I went to their website and found to more addresses and emailed those, and they too have just bounced back.

I windered if anyone here knew if they were still in business or anything?

Cliff

Cliff Richard is frustrated and angry at the constant media speculation about his sexuality. He said so today on the steps of his rural cottage (!) which he shares with his live-in companion, a retired clergyman.

Marketing/Contacts Lists

1. Anyone here buy lists or subscriptions for marketing purposes?

2. Anyone got any good or bad stories about any particular suppliers?

I realise this information may be considered confidential and people may not wish to disclose their marketing sources, but if anyone had any BAD stories of companies who's lists were bogus, out of date, or were in any other way flawed... it would be good to know.
