Internet laptop things May 20, 13, 6:49 a.m.
Alright?
You know those netbook/Chromebook/small laptop things you can get these days – are they any good?
I quite fancy something with a proper keyboard that is portable that I can chuck in a messenger back that doesn't cost the earth.
I'm an Apple fan but blowing £1000+ on an Air or 13" MacBook is a little out of my budget these days so I don't mind sacrificing OS X if I'm only really using it for internet and basic document creation/editing.
What do you peeps say? Anyone got one?
Small, portable video camera May 8, 13, 1:46 a.m.
We are after a small, portable video camera that does at least 720p HD and doesn't cost the earth.
We've use a FlipCam mino HD in the past and they are a bit rubbish so we want to step up our game a bit.
What have you lot used? Recommendations would be great. Cheers.
Auto-play video file May 3, 13, 6:27 a.m.
Hi all,
We've got a video (.mov currently) and we want to have it on a CD that automatically plays the video when it's inserted into a Windows computer.
Is this possible, and what is the best file type to convert the video file to?
Hope that makes sense! Cheers.
Gov.uk wins... Apr 17, 13, 3:35 a.m.
...Design of the Year Award.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entert…
-- Design Museum director Deyan Sudjic said the site was "the Paul Smith of websites".
-- Design of the Year jury member Griff Rhys Jones said the website was "a clear winner".
That's right – Griff Rhys Jones – the famous designer/creative director/agency CEO.
A usability award maybe, but a design award? Thoughts?
Best Windows plain text editor Apr 2, 13, 7:07 a.m.
What's the best free plain text editor for Windows?
Thanks.
Broswer notepad Jan 30, 13, 4:58 a.m.

Developers – you're welcome.
Google... Nov 21, 12, 5:14 a.m.
What have you done?!!
Where are the easy to use search options on the left of the page now?
Why... WHY???
Adobe Muse themes Nov 14, 12, 7:24 a.m.
Anyone got any good links for free Adobe Muse themes?
Cheers.
HTML5 question Oct 2, 12, 4:47 a.m.
I've put together a holding page using Adobe Muse and when I use a HTML5 validation page, I get the following warning and error to say it's not compliant:
1. Warning: Using windows-1252 instead of the declared encoding iso-8859-1.
2. Error: Internal encoding declaration utf-8 disagrees with the actual encoding of the document (windows-1252).
From line 5, column 3; to line 5, column 69
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8"/>
Can anyone help with what it means and how I can correct it?
Cheers.
Pub/bar logos Aug 14, 12, 3:25 a.m.
So it looks like I'm going to be working on a basic brand for a pub.
What are your favourites?
Cheers.
Brandon Generator May 1, 12, 11:51 a.m.
I'm probably going to get an epic timeline for this, but if there is anyone that hasn't seen this – you are probably going to like it...
Safari + PDFs Nov 30, 11, 9 a.m.
So Apple issue a new version of Safari which fixes the PDF issue.
Mine still doesn't display PDFs.
Bastards.
Record TV Sep 6, 11, 5:44 a.m.
Hi,
What is the easiest (read: free) way to record TV and get it onto my computer in a format that can then be uploaded to YouTube.
It's for a legitimate purpose (in as far as it's a representative from our company appearing on a TV program), but I'm not sure of the legalities surrounding TV on YouTube (although there are plenty of clips of TV programs on there – surely YouTube would remove them if it were illegal?)
All help appreciated, as usual.
Apple Developer Program Aug 30, 11, 7:19 a.m.
What do you get if you enroll as an iOS developer?
Calendar app Aug 9, 11, 1:35 a.m.
Is there an easy to setup and easy to use calendar app available for OS X which uses 'the cloud' to sync the calendars?
So, for example, colleagues here can broadcast and view each others up-to-date schedules in the office and when they are out of the office with an internet connection.
I know there is iCal, but I'm not sure you can sync it over the internet without a Google account, and for the luddites here I need to make it as easy and as quick as possible.
Thanks for your help.
iPad 2 cases Jun 7, 11, 6:56 a.m.
Just bought myself an iPad 2.
What are the best cases/sleeves/bags/protective 'things' for these?
I don't really want to spend £35 on the Apple smart cover thing – especially after reading some pretty negative reviews.
Cheers.
PS3 flashing red light May 27, 11, 1:48 p.m.
My PS3 is broken. I was happily playing CoD when it had a freak out and suddenly switched off. Now when I try and turn it on it beeps a bit, turns off and I get a red flashing light.
From looking on Google I see it is a fairly common problem with the older models (I've got a 60GB early model).
Anyone here had any experience with this?
It's seem pretty terminal and from looking online I can get it fixed by Sony for £160, which is a crap deal because I can practically get a Slim for that.
There are some dodgy fixes involving heat guns etc and all that just seem like a lot of effort for what appears to be only a temporary fix.
I'm fairly happy to buy a new one, but what bothers me the most is losing my saved games and trophies etc.
I never backed it up (yeah yeah, my bad)... it looking like everything is gone.
Anything I do?
Sorry to rant, but it's annoying!!!
Which Mac browser? Mar 10, 11, 2:13 a.m.
Which browser do the Mac fanboys here prefer?
I'm torn between Safari and Chrome.
Both have recently been updated, and now Chrome is 'official' it seems a safer choice than before.
I just can't seem to decide. Anyone got any hard evidence that one is better than the other?
Oh, fanks!
OS X filenames Feb 14, 11, 7:10 a.m.
My bosses laptop restricts her filename length to 31 characters. When existing documents are opened, edited and saved it shortens the filename to 31 characters (she gets the numbers/letters combo at the end – you've probably seen it).
I know it's something to do with HFS+ or something, but it's OS X 10.5 so it should just 'work'.
What is up with that?!
