just had a Ft. Lauderdale experience over the weekend; I experienced the best and worst strip clubs I've ever been to, all within a period of 4 hours:

Best: Cheetah (in Pompano)
$25 goes a long ways; talent is fantastic.

Worst: Bare Elegance

So last night… Aug 10, 05, 9:13 a.m.

…my gf and I are having sex and she's on top doing it all slow and stuff and I start having illustration images pop into my head. Strange things that are way outside of my style. Really simple shape drawing of like chickens and radios and robots with very simple color schemes. It took me like 5 minutes to realize it was happening. At first I thought I was dreaming, but such was not the case, and as I relaxed again, more images came. Can't wait to put these down on paper.

My friend just called me and asked if I wanted to go to the Billboard Music Awards because he has an extra ticket. I told him no.

Is it because I know I'll feel like crap tomorrow when I get to work because I'll be out late, or because of the "been there done that" attitude? Either way, gettin old.

Been about 7 or 8 years since I've visited, but let's get past that… what I want to know about is the neigborhoods, community, lifestyle etc. up there. I'm married with 2 kids. Can anyone offer any insight into:
• family neighborhoods (basically no city living, would like a yard)
• is a commute into downtown just nightmarish?
• is a designer's wage decent in that economy? (I know this is a relative question, but just wondering on average)
This is just a potential move I'm giving some thought to. I've been doing some freelance for a company up there that is going to hire a full time designer soon and they've expressed interest in offering me the position. I currently live in Vegas (almost as extreme opposite as you can get from Seattle), so any and any and all info you can offer would be great.

As I look back on the hilghtlights in my life I see that I beat Super Mario Bros., played DI football, graduated college with a BFA, bartended at a nightclub in Vegas, done Spring Break in south beach, had two kids, gotten married and snuck into the all so glorious middle class tax bracket. What other wonderful things await me at 33+?

so, I just got off the phone with this guy I'm doing a logo for. I'm doing it fucking dirt cheap (basically for free) since he's a friend of a friend/client of mine.

Here's the lowdown:
• Need logo for company
• "Our company does [this]"
• Need it ASAP

So I bang out a comp sheet of 6 different logos last night at like 1am. A couple of really strong logos on there, and the others pretty plain.

Client response today is:
"Ummm, yeah, I got the logos and fwd'd them to my business partners… uh, I looked at em… they seem kind of basic… is that because of the price range we're working with?… My business partner's 15 year old daughter, she goes to one of those magnet schools, she's a really talented artist. We might have her sketch something up, and then you could build a logo off of that."

what do you do in your spare time? I know 90% of us do freelance work or write actionscript in our spare time at home or whatever, but what else do you do? I know a few of you personally and I can sum up those spare time activities as "workout" and "drink"; well maybe that describes what I do in my spare time… anyway, enlighten me.
