Should I get my van resprayed?

I have a 1986 Bedford CF2 Panel van. Its a bit knackered. I'm restoring it slowly.

I want the bodywork to be typical ww2 grey, and everything else black. All semigloss, not matte.

Question is, should I do the Rustoleum roller special which will take up my time but only cost me £50, or should I get it done by a professional for £2000.

Underneath the ailing bodywork, the van is a rock solid dream.

50 brand new old style minis

http://www.woodandpickett.com/ca…

To celebrate the Minis anniversary, Wood&Picket, Mini modifiers and coachbuilders to rock stars, fashion icons and royalty since the 50's, have secured the rights to press and manufacture 50 original minis from scratch using the original tooling from the Austin factory which they secured during the buyout/bin sale of Rover's assets (ie these are British Minis not the BMW ones).

I saw one of these at Goodwood and they are stunning. So anybody who fancies being one of just 50 people to be driving a totally brand new old style mini, you'll just need 26k.

CS3 Stupid Question (PSD)

In Photoshop CS1 it was possible to link two layers together even if there were other layers in between them. In Photoshop CS3, unless I'm being a nob, it doesn't seem to be possible to link layers (now called 'grouping') unless I can select them both exclusively, and I can't do that unless they are next to each other in the layers palette.

Any ways around this? Its a pain in the arse.

Roundel Design

I haven't heard of this company for years but they're still going and its a really nice site, if a little light on actual work.

*Disclaimer: I know nothing about websites so it may actually be horrible shit that you all hate because it resizes your PIITB library or something.

Portable 4-track...

Does anybody know of such a thing as this?

A portable, battery operated, handheld fourtrack recording studio. Digital not tape-based, with a decent built-in mic / stereo mic.

I'm not looking for a feature heavy item, I just want to be able to take decent recordings and overlay four individual channels with maybe a bit of volume control per channel.

I know I can google this and have (and will again), but I just wondered if anyone out there had such a thing and could recommend model to look for.

Vocabulary help

I want to explain on a web page that I will only respond to enquiries from legitimate business email addresses (ie not from Gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc emails)...

"Sorry, but only legitimate enquiries from [insert correct word here] email addresses will be replied to".

What is the right way to describe url based email addresses please?

Thanks.

Thread ideas?

I thought I'd take a leaf from Llyod's book and start a thread. I'm a bit short on ideas though. Anyone got any good ideas for a thread?

Nokia X6

Phone batteries are fucking awesome.

I got a new mobile with my new job. I don't like phones and everyone who knows me knows it, so I never get calls and I never make them either. Texts and emails are my comfort zone.

So when I got the new phone I decided there was no sense in me being one of the two phone people. I retired my Nokia X6. That was three months ago.

I really love the Nokia alarm call song. Its the nicest way to wake up in the mornings, so I re-purposed my old phone as my bedside clock. I took the sim out to prevent it from trying to connect to a dead network, so all it does now is tell the time and on the rare occassion I sleep past my wake up point it will gently lull me to life with its melody. That happens maybe once a week.

My Nokia has been sat by my bedside for three months now, and the battery has only just this morning dropped one bar from being fully charged. When these batteries have absolutely nothing to do but tell the time, they can be on full charge for a quarter of a year.

That means one charge could last an entire year. We'll see.

Meanwhile, the Blackberry phone I got given for work struggles to stay alive for an entire working day and I am invariably left without a phone if I get the late train home and forgot to charge it up at work before I left. That is despite charging it over night every night.

Just thought I'd join you all in discussing all these phones we're all so passionate about.

JMM

(Jog My Memory)

Trying to remember the name of a product so I can google search the ad campaign. The campaign was out a few years ago on TV, Cinema, and also in print.

I think it was a drink, but it might possibly have been a beauty product. It was a really amazing realistically rendered CGI jungle/forest full of strange and dream-like plant life that would snake into shot then open up into bizarre flowers, dripping with sap, or with odd dangly bits, or like venus fly traps.

Really surreal and was discussed a lot at the time because it was really out there CGI-wise. Probably hasn't aged all that well. but I remember it being quite an amazing spectacle to see.

Anyone recollect the campaign, brand, anything???

Interestingly, Why35 claim they will grow by exploiting CDG's European retail experience, and Conran say they'll grow by exploiting Why35's corporate reporting experience.

So they'll just sit there poaching each others clients then?
